Grad Trip - Photo of the Day 9

April 30, Florence. We went to the famous Uffizi Gallery that morning, hoping to beat the queue but surprisingly, quite a long line had formed by then. Fortunately, it only took about 20min before we managed to get in.

The Uffizi features some important works during the Renaissance, including 'Birth of Venus' and 'Primavera', both by Botticelli, which were my favourites there. It is a huge gallery and we took the better part of the day exploring its 40-plus rooms. About halfway through, hunger got the better of me and we went to the gallery cafe to grab me a sandwich. Also managed to take a quick shot of the neighbouring Palazzo Vecchio:

Although I enjoyed the visit, I was quite tired out towards the end and was happy to sit down for a pasta after we got out, at around 3 or 4pm. And the shot of the day:

Thanks to the great weather, the lighting was perfect -- no need for any extra light. But I learnt something important that day -- in Italy, it's a lot cheaper to eat and drink at the bar than at a table.

The rest of the evening, we just walked around town before heading back to our hostel, Ostello Archi Rossi for our free dinner. Can you believe they actually serve free dinner? Can't help but love the place.
